How to cancel a Greenline Loans loan

EDITORIAL TEAM Reviewed by the Greenline Loans Cash Editorial Team · Updated October 16, 2026 · 8 min read

Greenline Loans allows free cancellation of a new loan if you return the full principal by 3:00 p.m. Eastern Time the business day after your funds are disbursed. This is a real right — not a courtesy — but it operates on a tight schedule and the portal navigation is not always obvious. This guide covers the full process, the common failure points, and what to do if cancellation doesn't work.

The deadline is firm

The 3:00 p.m. ET cutoff on the business day after funding is the full window. Miss it by minutes, and you're committed to the loan at the full APR for the entire term. If you're reading this and considering cancellation, start now — don't wait.

Who this applies to

The cancellation window applies to new Greenline Loans customers and to new draws against a Greenline line of credit. If you're already past the cutoff, cancellation at no cost is no longer available — but you can still accelerate repayment to minimize the total finance charge.

Step-by-step cancellation

  1. Confirm you're within the window

Count business days from the day funds hit your checking account. The cancellation deadline is 3:00 p.m. ET the next business day. If funds hit Friday, the deadline is 3:00 p.m. ET Monday. Federal holidays extend the deadline.

  2. Make sure you have the full principal in your account

You cannot cancel a Greenline loan without returning every dollar of principal that was disbursed. If you've already spent some of it, cancellation is unavailable — you'll owe the full loan at the full APR.

  3. Log into your Greenline Loans portal

Use the credentials you set up during the application. If you can't access the portal, call support immediately at (877) 596-1337 and request manual cancellation — do not wait for a password reset email that may not arrive in time.

  4. Navigate to Loan Details or My Loan

The cancellation option is typically located inside the active loan's detail page, not on the main dashboard. Look for a "Cancel Loan" or "Right to Cancel" link. If it's not visible, use the support chat or phone line to request cancellation directly — this is a documented right, not a hidden option.

  5. Confirm the cancellation and return

You'll be asked to confirm return of the full principal via ACH debit from the same checking account that received funding. The ACH debit may take 1–3 business days to clear, but your cancellation is effective at the moment of confirmation.

  6. Save written confirmation

Download or screenshot the cancellation confirmation page and save the email receipt. If any dispute arises later about whether cancellation was timely, this is your evidence.

If the portal cancellation option isn't working

This is a documented complaint in BBB filings against Greenline Loans. If the "Cancel Loan" option isn't visible or doesn't function:

  1. Call support immediately: (877) 596-1337. State clearly: "I am exercising my right to cancel this loan under the loan agreement's cancellation provision. I have the full principal available for return."
  2. Email support simultaneously: Send to the support email listed in your loan agreement. State the same thing in writing. The time-stamped email creates a record that you attempted cancellation within the window, even if the actual processing is delayed.
  3. Freeze outbound ACH if needed: Contact your bank and place a stop-payment on any scheduled Greenline Loans debits. This is a defensive measure, not a legal substitute for formal cancellation.
  4. File a BBB complaint if cancellation is refused or ignored: File at bbb.org against Waawaatesi LLC (the parent entity). BBB complaints are a documented pressure channel that Greenline responds to.
  5. Contact the CFPB: File a complaint at consumerfinance.gov. The CFPB's authority over tribal lenders is limited but complaints are logged and tracked.

If you're past the cancellation window

Cancellation at no cost is no longer available, but you still have options to limit the damage:

  • Pay more than the scheduled installment each month. Greenline charges no prepayment penalty. Interest accrues daily on your outstanding principal — faster payoff directly reduces total cost.
  • Target full payoff in 3–4 months, not the full scheduled term. On a $500 loan at 400% APR, paying off in 3 months instead of 6 cuts total cost by roughly half.
  • Set up principal-only extra payments. Any payment above the scheduled installment reduces principal. Call support to confirm the extra payment is being applied to principal, not held as a prepayment of future interest.
  • Do not refinance or roll the loan. Each extension re-starts the finance charge clock and multiplies total cost.
  • Do not take a new tribal loan to pay the old one. This is how borrowers end up in multi-loan debt cycles. Instead, consolidate with a state-licensed personal loan at a lower APR if you qualify.

What to tell the support representative

Scripts help. If you're calling to cancel:

"My name is [full name]. I funded a loan on [date]. I am exercising my right to cancel under the loan agreement before the 3:00 p.m. Eastern cancellation deadline. I have the full principal of $[amount] available in the checking account used for funding. Please process the cancellation and the return of principal, and send me written confirmation by email."
Representative APR example: A $500 loan with a 6-month term at 400% APR has a monthly payment of approximately $202.75 and a total repayment of $1,216.51. The finance charge is $716.51. Actual APR varies by state, loan amount, term, and credit profile and may range from 299% to 800%+. Greenline Loans is a tribal lender operated by Waawaatesi LLC for the Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians and may not be subject to all state consumer protection laws. Only borrow what you can repay. Visit consumerfinance.gov or ftc.gov for consumer resources.

Looking for alternatives before you borrow?

If you're cancelling to find a lower-APR option, run the application form once — it checks state-licensed alternatives before you commit to any tribal loan.
